Description
“Welcome to Watercolor” with Dan Finnell, in Overland Park
In this class, we'll be discussing, demonstrating, & collectively starting to fling some paint! Over the 4 classes, we'll do 2 – 3 paintings (suitable for 5×7 framing) from an artist-supplied color image. From sketching out the subject matter, composition, beginner brush & pigment techniques, to color theory and misc. general banter on how you can do this from your kitchen table or a beach chair in Mexico. My goal in this class is to get you excited about picking up that watercolor set you put down as a kid because it was “too hard” back then. Let's get those brushes wet! Thursdays, June 9, 16, 23, & 30.
About The Instructor:
As a retired architect-turned-watercolor artist, following a move to the midwest back in 2017, Dan Finnell carries a rapidly-expanding portfoio of varied talents and accomplishments. The improvisation in each painting commands a respect for the watercolor medium and its ever-changing characteristics that (when successful) leave behind a visible emtotion on the paper.
*We have plenty of room for you to spread out, and our open classroom is a mask-friendly space.
