Color Theory and Composition Principles with Ruthie Osa

There's obviously more to creating a successful work of art outside of mark-making and medium mastery. Composition and color theory play an important role in how our works are viewed and experienced by our audience. They are a fundamental base of understanding for artist and should not be ignored.

If we don't carefully plan the elements that we include, our art can become a real mess.

  • In our first session, we will examine color in its most pure and simple terms, then discuss how we can utilize tines, shades, and compliments to create a useful color wheel to take home for future reference.
  • In our second session, we will explore the 8 basic elements of design to establish successful compositions. Our practical application will involve creating thumbnail sketches from still life set-ups to illustrate the basic principles.

  • Class cost $90.00 that covers both sessions.
  • A Class kit is available with everything needed for the classes.
  • Overland Park
  • November 5 & 12th 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
